What actually is Social Bookmarking? Social bookmarking is all about bookmarking good websites. It is about internet users saving links to websites they want to use. Basically you are bookmarking websites you may want to use or revisit.

Think about reading a book or magazine that has an article you would like to reread or “bookmark” for future reference. Same thing here except you are bookmarking websites that you deem interesting or valuable for future reference. It is a great way to organize, share, search, and manage web resources. You visits a website, you bookmark it, tagging the website, which records the records and stores them so they are visible for others to see. This is social bookmarking.

Some examples of social bookmarking websites are Twitter, Digg, Y! Buzz, StumbleUpon, and Mixx just to name a few. There are many more out there you just have to search for them.

Social bookmarking is a valuable tool for niche business owners when marketing their business online. You can use it to increase the popularity of your website resulting in more clicks and a better ranking with the search engines. For this benefit alone, social bookmarking should never be ignored for online marketing. Another benefit to social bookmarking is to make use of the network that you develop on the social network. You then can market directly to those people as well. This means that social networking will enable you to market both ways i.e. direct and indirect marketing. This is a formula for success.

As you develop your network while bookmarking you want to share your bookmarks with you network. This enables the website to gain popularity very quickly. If you bookmark a website, your entire network will be able to view it. You will also be adding that website to the data base of the social network. This way you will be helping the website not only gain popularity but also getting registered in the data base of that social bookmarking service. Now the website will come up whenever the related tags are searched for.

This benefits not only your internet niche business but others on your network too. It’s a win-win situation for all. It’s a great way to keep in touch with what is going on now, what people are looking for, searching for, and information that can help you grow your online business.

If you haven’t started social bookmarking now is the time to do it. It doesn’t cost you any money just a little of your time.

The key to a successful online business is networking. There are many ways to network with your peers, visitors, customers, clients, and vendors. In order to establish a reputable presence on the internet you must be able to effectively network with others who can enhance your online success.

Using social networks is a great way to start getting your website and “you” noticed on the internet. This is a great way for you being the expert in your niche market to get your knowledge out there for others. Remember you are the expert in your niche. Now you need to draw attention to your product, services, information, or whatever you are offering.

There are numerous social network websites on the internet. One of my favorite is Twitter and the other is Facebook. If you haven’t heard of either one of these social networks then you need to jump on board and start researching. Both sites are free to join and easy to set up. Be careful when you choose your username though. Make sure it properly represents you and your business.

A key to networking is to do it often. Engage in the conversation, build relationships and friends or in tweetland it is Tweeters. Post relevant information and build followers by selectively choosing people with similiar interests as yours. Once you have a loyal base go at it by promoting your website and what you can offer others. It’s great to offer your followers something free. Most will offer a free downloadable book for you to get you to their websites. This is a good way for your followers to see what you are all about.

Think of networking as customer service. If you have loyal repeat customers you have a successful business. You network with your customers everyday. Your customers have a good experience, they tell others, then the others become your customers because they want to see what the craze is all about.
